International Day of Education and Its Significance

International Day of Education is celebrated globally on January 24 every year. The aim of this commemorative day is to raise awareness of the significance of education and to look towards possible concerns.

Education adds purpose to our lives and gives us a sense of belonging and purpose in life, besides delivering stability. Besides making you a productive citizen of a country, it also helps you to become responsible and aware of all those things that contribute to world peace and wellness.

ADRA Bangladesh is steering its education projects with an aim to improve the living conditions, educational and healthy environment of slum children for decades. ADRA Bangladesh is also educating the parents of slum children through its adult literacy session successfully. ADRA is taking care of the slum children and preparing them so they can get enrolled in the government primary school.

According to the UN, 244 million children and youth are out of school, and 771 million adults are illiterate. Their right to education is being transgressed and it is unacceptable. Education is the most influential instrument to break the cycle of poverty, obliterate gender inequalities and foster economic growth.

As the mid-point on the journey towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by United Nations Member States in 2015, the 2023 International Day of Education is also the ideal time to review progress toward meeting the Agenda’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

UNESCO has been central to improving education worldwide and that is why promotes the International Day of Education in partnership with governments, charities, local communities, and experts in the field worldwide.

By adopting various themes every year, UNESCO wants to turn attention to education in all its forms in a changing world. No doubt without education, we can't make changes in the world and also can't improve our living being.
