International Women's Day 2024: Invest in women: Accelerate progress

International Women's Day is celebrated on the 8th of March every year, to promote gender equality and celebrate women's achievements in various fields. This day is an opportunity to raise awareness about the challenges that women face and to recognize the contributions of women to society.

The theme for International Women's Day 2024 is "Invest in women: Accelerate progress." The theme focuses on investing in women to create prosperous economies and a healthy planet. This theme encourages individuals to challenge gender bias and inequality, to promote a more inclusive world. It is a call to action for all of us to stand up against discrimination and invest in women to create a more equitable society.

International Women's Day has its roots in the early 20th century when women's rights activists began organizing rallies and demonstrations for women's suffrage. Since then, it has grown into a global movement to promote women's rights and gender equality. Today, International Women's Day is celebrated in countries all over the world, with events ranging from marches and rallies to conferences and panel discussions.

ADRA Bangladesh is working untiringly to empower women across the country through its diverse projects. ADRA provides a wide range of Income Generating Activity (IGA) training to women to develop their skills so they can earn money and achieve financial solvency.

As we mark International Women's Day in 2024, it is important to acknowledge the challenges that women continue to face and to work towards creating a world that is more equitable and inclusive. This means ensuring that women have access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities, as well as promoting women's leadership and representation in all sectors. All we should do is invest in women to address human rights issues, end poverty, implement gender-responsive financing, shift to a green economy and care society, and Support feminist change-makers.

So, let's choose to challenge gender bias and inequality, empower women, and work towards creating a world where women can thrive and achieve their full potential.
