World Telecommunication and Information Society Day 2020
World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) is an international day proclaimed to be on 17 May to evoke the world of the foresight of the World Summit on the Information Society to build “a people-centered, inclusive and development-oriented information society” based on rudimentary human rights. This year the theme for the day is “Connect 2030: ICTs for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”. During this COVID-19 pandemic telecommunications and internet-based communication, has become more significant than ever.
World Information Society Day stimulates people’s cognizance of the power of information and communication to build societies in which they can invent, access, use, and share information and knowledge to attain their bursting potential.
During the lockdown period due to the coronavirus outbreak, people have become homebound. It intensifies the manipulation of telecommunication and information technology. Nowadays, people are working from their home by dint of information technology. Telecommunication and Information technology help connects people across the world more effectively.
During this lockdown situation, the emergency response team of ADRA in Bangladesh is assessing its beneficiaries across the county with the help of telecommunication and information technology. ADRA staff are enjoying the advantage of telecommunication and information technology that helps them to explore the livelihood in Bangladesh.
Telecommunication and Information technology amplified the opportunity to share ideas, debate on various aspects, formulating reports, and greater access to data globally. It helps yielding pace to the daily office works. People are getting benefited in terms of saving a lot of time acquiring information from every sphere of life.
