Project Goal:

Key Activities:

According to the project criteria, 50 children were enrolled at the children’s center.

The project has provided once each day nutritious meal, five days a week.

Conducted weekly health sessions, health check-ups, basic clinical support, and growth monitoring to encourage good health practices.

Organized education sessions to improve literacy knowledge of the children.

Established linkage with public primary schools and local government education departments, in order to ensure assistance and help for the sustainability of the project.

Conducted adult literacy and health session for mothers to improve basic educational knowledge and awareness.

Organized issue-based training, rallies and cooking demonstration to make them aware of different rights and well-being to live a life.

Conducted parents/guardians' meetings and home visits to impact follow-up of the intervention at the family level.

Arranged vocational training to increase income in their families.
Project Description:
Chalantika Slum Children Development Project (CSCDP) started its activities on June 15, 2013, at Mirpur-6, Dhaka capital city of Bangladesh. The project is designed to address the lack of education and various health problems of the slum area. The project conducts various activities that are mainly focused on the education, health and living conditions of the slum children in the area. These activities are aimed at improving education, hygiene, nutrition, healthcare, growth monitoring, adult literacy, issue-based training, vocational training, cooking demonstration and linkage establishments with the government primary education department. The project also gives importance to sustainability, by raising awareness among parents and community members, through conducting frequent meeting/focus group discussions and home visits.
